This is Rod Serling. He was the man behind the classic television shows “The Twilight Zone” and “Night Gallery.” If you’re my age or older, you probably endured your first sleepless nights courtesy this fellow.
Serling’s television scripts focused on bizarre events and I always thought he dressed well (the major television personalities my family watched during the 60’s were Ed Sullivan–no GQ man he, and Red Skelton–a clown inside and out).
Ryan Whitney is also in the Twilight Zone, and his problem is that he doesn’t dress enough as an Edmonton Oiler. A Jim Matheson EJ article (it is here) goes into great detail about the freakishness of the injury. I wanted to post this quote:
- “my doctor said there had only been 70 cases ever recorded of the injury I got … something ridiculous.”
Crazy, Twilight Zone. So does that mean it’s a one time thing and not related to previous problems Whitney has had in this area? Man I hope so. Whitney states in the article he’ll probably be in the best shape of his life when he returns (possibly at the end of the regular season).
