Moss Game Update Later Tonight

I have to go for a walk and help my kids with homework, but maybe 8PM or so local time I’ll throw up my impressions on the Joey Moss Cup today.

One thing for certain: Ales Hemsky belongs in a higher league.

I’m with you on that, LT. Hemsky-Gagner-Penner…I think we may eb hearing alot of that in the next couple weeks. What a pleasure that game was to watch simply for those Hemsky goals.

    Moreau…good to have him back.

Team White was in tough today, boyohboy. Hemsky/Gagner/Penner were sick. Nilsson was impressive again as well.

Do you think Tom Gilbert can play RW? :P

    Good evening.

    I can’t stay long either. ;-D

    Lain,

Remember how Gagner was a little tentative on day 1… understandably so.

On day 2 the speed and intensity were up a notch or two, and yet, he was able to adjust and slow the play down. MacT blenderized him something fierce too.

Even had him on the PK… first with Horcoff, second with Torres, and third with Quist against Stoll, Moreau, Nilsson, Pitkanen & Roy, the best of team grey. The kids did just fine.

On days 1 & 2 Huddy tried both Cogliano and Schremp with Hemsky. Neither of them could keep up with Hemsky’s read. MacT played a hunch… Gagner can.

He’s a kid who needs to physically mature, but it’s still nice to know that he thinks the game this well.

    Hemsky’s post-game comments…

“He’s a young, talented guy. Really smart and he can move the puck,” said Hemsky after the game. “He’s got a feel for the game. It will be interesting to see how he will do in the exhibition games.”

    Yes… yes it will.

He’s going to plateau at some point, but it’s fun watching the strides he’s taking.

    ………

    I know it’s the wrong topic. ;-p

    Anson Carter…

    yeah… no.

Nilsson sure had more jump tho.
    ;-D

The question is, can Nilsson learn to be effective on a regular basis in the NHL, and not get his rear handed to him.

I know it’s near blasphemy to say, but if Nilsson turns into a viable 2nd line wing, O’Marra pans out in a season or two, and Plante makes some hay…the Smyth trade may go down in history as a good one.

uni: I think the Smyth trade was excellent value. The question of not signing him is a different issue, but getting three kids who might all play in exchange for gp after March 1 (or whenever it was) is a good deal.
