This is Riley Nash. He looks a little like Opie (Ron Howard when he was about 7), and his nickname is “R.R” for Rowdy Riley.
Horrible nickname. I like Nash the Slash better, it sounds like something the police would take interest in and it’s also the name of a very unusual Canadian musician.
Rowdy Riley (I bet you a 2-4 his Mom gave him that nickname) appears to be a hockey player of some talent. Nash scored a goal and added an assist in a 2-1 win for Cornell (NCAA) this evening.
Cody Wild, an Oiler D prospect who plays for Providence (NCAA) has been injured recently and got off to a poor start offensively. He made up for it tonight, scoring a goal and adding three assists. Jeff Petry, another Oiler D prospect, got an assist tonight for Michigan State. UND’s Taylor Chorney, likely the best Edmonton prospect not currently playing pro hockey, struggled tonight (along with his team) and was held pointless. UND center Chris Vande Velde is now centering the top line by the by, with impact wingers T.J. Oshie and Ryan Duncan. If he stays on that line for long he’s going to put up points.
Marc Pouliot popped a couple of goals for Springfield tonight in a win for the Falcons. Colin McDonald and Danny Syvret also scored, with Jeff Deslauriers (SP is now .922 and tied for 10th in the AHL) getting the win.
I watched the MTL-BOS game last night and the tsn camera spotted Kevin Lowe. The announcer (Cuthbert?) mentioned the Oiler GM was in the area scouting the Falcons this weekend.
