For those of us who watched Alex Plante struggle through the entire 07-08 regular season with injury (played in only 36 WHL games) and saw his offensive numbers step into the elevator shaft (he went from 38 points to 2 points season over season) it is somewhat incredible to see his early playoff success.
As of tonight, Plante’s played in 6 playoff games and has matched his entire regular season point output (he’s 0-2-2). Even better, one of his assists came on the powerplay (the 8th goal in an 8-3 win).
Hell none of this even matters but when it’s a first round pick that was sandwiched between Sam Gagner and Riley Nash as a fan you’re kind of hoping he turns out too.
One other quick note tonight: Taylor Chorney and Chris Vande Velde (North Dakote) are off to the frozen four after a stunning OT win this evening against Wisconsin.
