This is Drew MacIntyre. He’s one of 31 MacIntyre’s I could find in history who have played at any kind of measurable level. Drew McIntyre is the only player with that last name (as spelled here) who has played in the NHL.
Steve MacIntyre could change that and double the representation. Incredibly, he could do it as an Edmonton Oiler.
It’s unlikely based on the live audio from Kevin Prendergast over at the Oilers site. Prendergast is a fellow who makes Sparky Anderson-level claims about various prospects in the system and stretches the accepted boundaries of hyperbole weekly.
His comments on Steve MacIntyre border on hilarious. They made me laugh out loud, as this is a guy who can’t be heard uttering a negative sound most days. Listen if you get a chance, a real knee slapper.
Can MacIntyre make the club? Probably not. The guy isn’t really an NHL player and would bugger up the pairings severely.
The question is “does he have an NHL application?” and I can’t see it.
Not on a MacTavish team. Right? He rolls 4 lines, he likes to use all 6 defenders. He plays the entire roster.
Unless he plans to double shift Horcoff or send out Deslauriers and use the 14F as a “dead zone” for opponents like Calgary and Minnesota, it seems to me young Mr. MacIntyre will be placed on waivers again in the next few days and belong to another NHL team or play in Springfield very soon.
A cup of coffee Friday, and another long flight.
Right? Is this a MacT player?
