The Kings have some nice players on the club that is playing tonight, but they also have some holes. Obvious holes. The National Hockey League is apparently unaware that Kings management is as close to “throwing games” as any team since the Ottawa Senators did many years ago in order to get some long forgotten phenom.
I’d say that the Kings not trying to be competitive is the biggest black eye the NHL has right now in terms of being a league that is above board, but it isn’t even close. The dreadful and clumsy handling of Brian Burke’s hiring by the Toronto Maple Leafs, much of which clearly took place while the man was the General Manager of the Anaheim Ducks, is appalling to the extreme and once again shows the NHL owners as a group are a bunch of clowns.
This bunch could learn from the CFL, and baby that’s not a compliment.
As for tonight’s game, the Oilers should win this one walking away. There are things that could cause a loss, like the new guy running someone through the boards and taking a 5-minute penalty in which the Oilers PK acts like itself.
That aside, this shouldn’t be close.
