The Edmonton Oilers have signed rfa Liam Reddox to a one-year, two-way deal.
More to come.
if it's a two way deal, then good job by tambellini. Resddox is a solid 4th liner, and was a real good AHl player. he helps the AHl team, and can be called up and add some all around play.
And Ryan Potulny
But what about Guillame "Leftie" Lefebvre?

I'm glad that the news was the Reddox signing, rather than a Heatley trade.
Nice work. He's useful in multiple roles – and should be able to handle the tough minutes in the A on a team full of guys that need cover.
Will he team with Minard on the first line?
Mr. Debakey: According to Guy Flaming, it seems that the Oilers made Guillame Lefebrve an offer and he rejected it.
C'est la vie.
I'm surprised (pleased) that Reddox was signed. For all the minutes he got last year, it would have been a terrible waste if if just walked away.
The kid DOES have a role, even if it's 4th line.
They must have given in to his demands?
Whatever, right on.
This is okay, as long as he only plays on the 4th line. I don't want to see him anywhere near Hemsky and his line!
Reddox will be a good 4th liner and on a two way contract it makes sense. I also understand why the Oilers had let him walk when he wanted a one way deal.
Nice to see the Liam has finally said, "maybe I'm just not that good yet."
From last thread, Bruce said:
Fun fact: Among active players Alex Tanguay ranks 9th in career +/- at +157. Only one guy in the top 15 (Pavel Datsyuk, +159) has made the list in less time than Tanguay's 9 seasons; the rest are mostly guys well into their 30s if not beyond.
Dany Heatley's +47 ranks well outside the top 50, which is the extent of the list.Bruce, it might be interesting to see the qualteam and qualcomp for those nine seasons, eh?

It's not like either are that physical, or are expected to be.I'm not going to pretend they are.

I know who I want.
Tanguay for less than half the cap hit of Heatley? Yes please.
Keeping a great value contract in Cogs? Fantastic.
Reddox-Potulny-Minard will tear up the AHL.
This move helps the organization.
Beauty post, BG.
That's the logical option. Along with Ryan Potulny on the other side, that's the makings of a dominant line in the AHL.
You then string together Schremp, Stone and Linglet and hope they kill the soft minutes.
AHL roster's looking more promising than I could have hoped for this offseason.
@ Coach – awesome responses.
Is Edmonton on Tanguay's list?
DG, doesn't Schremp have to clear waivers before he can head back to Springfield?
I can see a much better year from the Falcons, I'd be surprised if they missed the postseason again. And it looks like they'll do it without Schremp, haha.
(We may not win the shoot out competition at the ahl allstar game though.)
You might be on to something there. He's played more games than I originally thought as a professional. 223 to Brule's 212, which I believe he has 8 to go before he's considered waiver bait.
In that case, Trukhno slides to his spot and we don't miss a beat.
Imagine Liam's surprise when he received those DVDs, "All is forgiven, we can't wait to see the Big Red Machine proudly anchoring our first line".
Meanwhile, Heatley is opening a box with a pair of Reddox's brackish old sneakers that he forgot at the gym, with a hand-scrawled note from the President himself: "Not good enough for you? Fine – Take a hike then, Ginger!!"
Would there be no spot available on the Oil roster for Reddox? I think he is a very usefull guy. Good speed and a good sense of whats going on out there. Third line doesnt seem out of the question? The guy is only going to get better as long as he stays off the trolley tracks.
I thought of him as a kind of future-Pisani. But it took Pis a few years to become what he is now. I don't think Reddox will take Jacques or Stortini's spot this year.
DanMan: Reddox and Zorg are not in competition for the same fourth line job (maybe JFJ and Reddox, but it is Zorg or SMac on the Right side).
Good depth signings . . . Reddox will play between 40-50 games in Oiler Silks next year, and most of the time it will be on 4th line (and a few shifts on PK, if Quinn can remember his name).
Perhaps Reddox is a player that can fill the shoes of a pisani in another year or two?!.. a decent project to keep developing.. still a young man, obviously, so perhaps last year will give him the extra confidence to maintain his upward momentum and excel in the AHL ranks…
I wasnt a fan, for the most part, last year but I like the fact that he has been retained.. this player type isnt exactly a position of strength or depth for the org (w marra being a bust and Mcdonald not showing enough offensive output as of yet…)
oh, and black gold – wow…compelling argument for tanguy…
I'm not going through the registration rigamarole on your site, so I am going to answer here:
That graph looks like Central Bank interest rate vs. GDP over the past 30 years.
Funny, because the blue line essentially doubles in value over 30 years, giving an annual change of approx. 2.4%, which is what calculated GDP must be in order for real GDP to be essentially flat. That is, Bernanke has admitted that 2.4% growth in GDP needs to be seen to keep the economy essentially flat (see Mish Shedlock's blog post yesterday for source). In other words there has been no real growth over 30 years, just the steady unstoppable theft of inflation, along with widely fluctuating interest rates.
In the words of Peg Bundy, "Thank your father, children."
Sorry for the threadjack, peoples.
Reddox and his small contract would be ideal for a job if there were a bunch of players on this team. As it is, they can't protect yet another player, so to the A he goes.
