Grebeshkov Hurt
Courtesy Oilers twitter: Grebeshkov injured his knee in the final minute (of tonight’s game) and is flying back to Edmonton. Will miss the remainder of road trip.
Sheldon Souray is apparently skating and there were whispers earlier he might play in Atlanta. Oilers are running out of blue.

We've already missed over 100 man games to injury.
Unreal.
Good news is Stauffer is saying 44 and 10 should be back for Sunday.
The fact they're already sending him home leaves me thinking he's gone for at least 6 weeks though…
To quote the late, great Mike Winters:
"Goddamn these injurioesa=asdnmlkSNn jk"
How bad is Chorney's high ankle sprain?
Well the good thing is that we're finding out just how deep our farm really is.
The bad thing is that the whole team is also seemingly injury-prone.
Are those fair conclusions?
I wonder how many guys will be forced back early only to play at 80% and then reinjure themselves.
Hey, so far the edmonton falcons aren't that bad–considering they're playing NHL teams
Speaking of hurt… any news on Reddox?
rv40: Tencer had Bucky saying that Reddox was "sitting up in the training room and aware of his surroundings."
Also said the Oilers are steamed about the hit.
LT:
Did you listen to Alabama growing up?
Zac Brown Band just played one hell of a rendition of Devil Goes to Georgia…
PDO: That's Charlie Daniels. Charlie Daniels Band.
Also said the Oilers are steamed about the hit.
In that case, we'd better start fundrasing for the inevitable "Pat Quinn NHL Fine For Shooting His Mouth Off Supporting Vigilante Justice(TM) Fund."
LT:
I'm showing my age…
.
It was fantastic though.
Hey LT, I didn't think that you used twitter? Injuries this year are getting out of control…
I think it might be time to start looking into the conditioning and training staff. There could be some issues there. It does seem that the Oilers have had a number of seasons with a large amount of injury. Freak injuries are not always an accident and can often be caused by underconditioning which leave you weak and tired and then causes mistakes which lead to injury.
There is also a possibility of overtraining which can cause the body to break down. Just some thoughts

A forgotten incident where Chris Minard gets chased around by madman Jeff Kugel
Terry:
The thing is the Oilers did change their Fitness Consultant this year: Moreau's brother has been replaced with Simon Bennett.
Mandelbaum! Mandelbaum!
Actually, the Oilers are (imo) way better at recognizing and addressing injuries at the front end. Back in the day, Mike Grier would dislocate a shoulder on a hit, nearly pass out getting back to the bench, the trainer would set the shoulder back in and then Grier would take another shift.
I'll bet money he can't take a full slap shot to this day, and I'm not lying about this.
Terry: Many of the most serious injuries suffered by the oilers have been the result of aggressive or dirty play.
Staios – Concussion after crosscheck by Dallas then shitheaded taunting afterward.
Souray – Trip and slam into boards at full speed, no penalty.
Grebeshkov – Knee on knee hit at the end of the last game. No call, maybe accidental.
Reddox – Filth, but he's sorry.
On a second period powerplay one of our guys got a textbook pasting from behind right in front of Watson in the corner – no call. Buffalo had a lot of cheap ass stick calls, but their running around especially when shorthanded was let go. Reddox and Greb are partially the result of an abdication of the zebra's responsibility to protect the players.
Anyway, bad conditioning give pulls, back problems and lots of penalties because your slow. Shoulders have lots of small muscles that fail under strain – just going to happen. I think the Oilers conditioning is up this year overall. Just look at Penner.
Henry: Iginla did get two minutes for putting Souray on the shelf for what, 6 weeks now? But Jarome's a good guy and, ah shucks, it was an accident. Who would know that putting your stick in the skates of another player going full speed toward the end boards might result in incidental contact? It was an "accident" and he's "sorry".
Fucker.
But Bruce, Jarome hit head against the boards too and he could have gotten hurt so you can't possibly suspend him for it…..
If I hear one more asshole make this argument, I'm gonna pull a Bertuzzi on them.
The Oilers need to get their top six D healthy and back together so that they can decide which one of them's to be moved to flesh out their top six forwards.
But at this rate it's a long ways off.
I'm starting to accept the fact that we might not have our desired top 18 skaters together for any significant amount of time this year.
You carry a hockey stick around with you all the time?
Damn man. That's hardcore.
I'll start carrying it around in my car :>
If we get Souray back, the D is okay for now.
I can live with:
Souray-Gilbert
Vis.-Smid
Staios-Chorney
Strudwick
Sell Grebs for a great return and a decent-ish 3rd pairing guy for depth.
You have to be able to deal with injuries to your D-men. That's why we need a cheap veteran 3rd pairing guy, someone a little better than Strudwick.
Forward is another story.
When we get Horc back, how do you get 3 balanced lines?
I'd go for:
Penner-Gagner-Hemsky
Cogliano-Horcoff-Pisani
Comrie-Brule-O'Sullivan (soft)
The good news is, it looks like Moreau-X-Stortini is going to be a nice little 4th line all year. Put Potulny in there for the time being.

Sorry, PBoy, which argument? Mine, or the one in your first paragraph? I assume when you say "asshole" you couldn't possibly be talking about me, but it's a known fact that opinions vary …
The last 2 games were the first games since the first 2 of the season that we had 6 of our top 7 defencemen that broke camp in the lineup.
Odd fact: In the 4 games where the Oilers have had 6 "original" (defined as start of this season FFS) defencemen in the line-up, they have outshot their opposition 3 times. In the 15 games in between times, the Oilers never outshot their opponent even once.
Defence was supposedly the strong point of this team but it assumed a modicum of health, which is in short supply around here for the fourth fucking year in a row. Souray was supposed to take over for Strudwick, not Grebeshkov FFS.
Much like the year they drafted Gagner. At least with all these injuries the Oil can say they still have their pick.

Not you Bruce, you are right on the money. It kills me that people think that just cause Jarome could have gotten hurt on the play also, it somehow absolves him of any blame. He took at Souray's skates as they were both racing for the puck besides the boards, received a penalty for it and Souray is still out suffering from a concussion. Just the facts folks. Iginla should have seen at least 2 games but he's an awesome guy so…..
I thought I posted this here – but maybe I did it somewhere else – but while I've been hoping we'll get our top six D back together in order to be able to move one of them for a forward to round out our top six, it looks like we're not gonna have that option for awhile yet; if at all.
In the meantime, we should be alright if 44 stays healthy and then we've got 41-43 rotating through the 6-7 holes.

Dennis: You mean we should be alright if 5-24-44-71-77 all stay healthy. They have already missed 32 games among the 5 of them, with just Gilbert maintaining a perfect attendance record even at the quarter pole. (Well, Grebs too, but that just changed.)
