Oilers at Canucks, G27, 09-10

With the Oilers north of 150 man-games lost at this time, I think this might turn into another winter of distracting ourselves from game results.

Things to look forward to include Sam Gagner’s progress, seeing if some of the other kids can surprise and build on opportunity (PDO had a nice group of posts at the end of the GDT that offer food for though re: Brule and his future) and comparing this season’s coaching to last year (so far MacT would seem to have the edge but it is early).

The draft offers hope and if the team has a number of L’s in a row perhaps we’ll focus more closely on that area of the Oilers future.

Beginning tomorrow I’ll post my version of the Oilers top 20. I think it’ll be fun and can promise some surprises (there are kids who are stepping up).

As for tonight’s game, I’m looking forward to seeing if Potulny can show the same kind of jump and Lubomir Visnovsky is a fun player to watch too. Dustin Penner remains worth the price of admission and I have my favourites (Horcoff, Gagner, Cogliano, Gilbert) who are worth following.

A win tonight, making the second season? It’s a fan’s right to cheer and that’s what I’ll do.
