Three Oiler Prospects Headed for Canada’s WJ Camp

The Edmonton Oilers have three Canadian prospects headed to the World Junior Camp. Jordan Eberle is a no-brainer to make the team (unless the Oilers can figure a way to get him to the NHL) and the other two have what could be considered an outside chance at making the team.

Eberle’s having an impact season in the WHL (24gp, 23-27-50) and Cornett is ripping up the Q (30gp, 18-27-45) too. Olivier Roy had a poor start to the year but has recovered (22gp, 2.82 .900) nicely over the last two weeks. His SP ranks 14th in the QMJHL among league regulars, and his SP is .927 in his last 10 games.

At a guess I’d say Eberle and Roy make it and that Cornet gets cut, but it is also possible the kid G from the Q gets sent away instead come cutdown day. The games start for Canada on Boxing Day, but the fun began today.
