The Future Is Now

Jordan Eberle’s Regina Pats are in a real dogfight for the second season. There’s every chance they’ll be on the outside looking in this spring. According to the Pats site the club finishes up the season in Brandon on the night of March 13th.

The Falcons will play 11 AHL games between March 19th and April 11th; the Oilers will play 14 games between March 15th and April 11th.

Logic tells us you don’t want your future within 500 miles of the mess that is the Edmonton Oilers, but Springfield isn’t any screaming hell either. I believe Jordan Eberle’s NHL career begins in about 6 weeks (or sooner).

How will this impact the big club? Well, if you’re an undersized skill player this would be a very good time to start playing well. Someone is going to be coming out of the lineup to make room for “the kid.”

Candidates? Nilsson, Cogliano, O’Sullivan, Brule, Potulny, Comrie. Steve Tambellini might as well send one of them away at the deadline to make room for Jordan Eberle. Nothing’s going to stop him now.
