Throw-Ins
That’s Linus Omark doing his wizardry. A couple of weeks ago I ran the Desjardins numbers for the Oilers top prospects and Omark ranked third overall (behind teenagers Eberle and MPS).
I think Omark might be a prospect who could be made available in trade at the deadline (and in summer) if there’s a need to sweeten the pot with a throw-in. Although a team dealing off their veterans in exchange for prospects and picks rarely sends same the other way, the Oilers do have the option of sending away a few prospects with “duplicate” skills if it means getting things done.
Why Omark? He’s 5.09, 185 and on a team that has cornered the market in sub-6 footers weighing under 200 pounds he’s going to have some trouble making the lineup. Especially considering that Jordan Eberle and possibly Taylor Hall will be added to this depth chart:
- Brule 5.10, 180
- Cogliano 5.10, 184
- Comrie 5.10, 185
- Gagner 5.11, 191
- Nilsson, 5.11, 185
- O’Sullivan 5.11, 190
I understand some of the forwards listed won’t be back, but adding all of Eberle, Hall and Omark seems like a stretch. Omark is a player who might have some value, and could be in the mix as a throw in.
