Oilers Claim Ryan Jones

Earlier today the Edmonton Oilers claimed winger Ryan Jones off waivers. He’s got decent size, can play hockey and offers some experience.

A good move unless you’re JF Jacques. Jones may also be able to slip into Ethan Moreau’s role, although I’m not certain he takes enough offensive zone penalties.

Oilers also announced the recall of Dean Arsene and Johan Motin, which gives us a really good idea about where the organization feels Motin is on the depth chart (only Alex Plante is left and he’s hurt).

The recall of the two defensemen may mean Steve Tambellini has traded a defenseman but we’ll have to wait and see.
