Theo Peckham was injured late in tonight’s game against San Jose. Peckham took a hit from Sharks defender Doug Murray (who took a penalty on the play) in the same general area of the ice that he made that last second play late in the Friday night game.
Dan Tencer is reporting that it is a separated shoulder with considerable swelling. Tencer also reports there won’t be an early timeline on his return because of the swelling.
The injury comes at a poor time for Peckham, who was playing his best hockey of the season. For a team looking for candidates for next fall’s roster, this is a very important time for fringe players like Peckham.
The Oilers will likely call someone from Springfield in the next couple of days if the injury is severe; candidates include Dean Arsene and Johan Motin. Another Springfield candidate, Alex Plante, remains out of action with a concussion.
