The Oilers appear to be having a bit of a power struggle over their latest phenom. The upper management wants Jordan Eberle to play in Springfield (with a possible callup later) and OTC wants to see what he can do at the major league level.
Eberle’s WHL season will end March 13th (will he score 50?) which means the Falcons will have 11 possible games and the Oilers 14 before the end of their respective seasons.
A good guess would be that the Oilers dress the kid in the final 9 big league games (so they don’t burn a year of eligibility) so they can sell hope and the future. I’ve seen it written that “should Eberle light it up in the AHL” he might get a chance in the show. We should consider the fact that Eberle has already played in the AHL and posted points consistently during that cup of coffee,
Don’t think so. Jordan Eberle is the latest in a fairly long line of prospects who will be fast tracked by an organization eager to splash on new paint and forget about yesterday’s papers. The measured approach (one level per year, more if required) hasn’t been here since Comrie bolted.
