Predators at Oilers, G47 ’10-’11

This is Shea Weber. The Lowetide blog has become the official “let’s get Weber” site and honestly I’m on board. I doubt it happens (Weber is an rfa this summer) because Nashville will no doubt do everything in their power to make sure he stays with the Preds.

Nashville lost Dan Hamhuis to free agency, but Weber is another player altogether. He currently leads his team in points, has scored 20 goals in an NHL season previously and checks out at a high level across the board.

He plays the tough minutes, his RelCorsi is quality and unlike some of the other Nashville cats he’s not on a contract that will send him to free agency. I frankly don’t know why Nashville would consider trading him until they’ve exhausted all avenues.

A nice article here about how an injury impacted two lives. Well worth the time to read it.

David Staples has an article up about Sam Gagner’s defensive struggles. It is here. It’s a good read, but I would like to point out that Gagner’s recent run (8gp, 1-1-2 -8) coincides with his playing on a line with two rookies. I don’t want to get in the way of Staples error counting, but did want to point out that Sam Gagner is 38gp, 10-16-26 -3 outside the recent run with the kids. 21, folks. He’s 21.

Watching the Oilers lose is still painful, but with such a wonderful future on display it’s a lot easier than it was a year ago. The sheer number of quality kids under 22 is a marvel. Hang in there, it’s going to be fun one of these years.
