Bruins at Oilers G63 ’10-’11

The last time the Oilers were playing for anything important it was 2006. Ales Hemsky was a man during that playoff spring and had a feature role in the series win over Detroit.

It isn’t certain #83 will be sent away, but there’s enough out there for some of us to believe this could be the last time we see Hemsky in an Oiler uniform. If it is, he’ll be missed just on entertainment value. Ales Hemsky is a fun hockey player and a game rooster.

Mark Spector has the best article up on the Hemsky-Schenn dealing and he says in the article “this appears to be one of those deals where strict guidelines have been set, and now the two GMs will sit back and see who blinks first.”

We’ll know if and when the LAK make a deal. If David Booth heads to the Kings then the Oilers aren’t dealing Hemsky to the left coast. Washington got their help (probably) when picking up Sturm.

Dustin Penner would appear to be a better trade deadline bargain than Hemsky at this time but interest levels appear to be waning based on the internet. Minnesota and Montreal have been rumored but it looks like it’ll go to Monday for #27 too (or the summer).

Terry Jones has a solid article up on Steve Tambellini and the importance of the deadline.

Rob Schremp is on waivers again. He posted some offense and gave up some going the other way, but as near as I can tell this is about Michael Grabner running his show after coming over on waivers. I’d guess someone takes a chance on him, scoring goals is a tough thing to do.
