KLEFBOM “LETHARGIC”
After starting in Farjestad’s season opener and playing an effective 12.5 minutes, Oscar Klefbom didn’t play in the third period.
This report suggests he “started in the last game when he felt lethargic, but felt better today and see where it is also positive to the game.” Didn’t see the word concussion and that would be a concern.
GAME ONE DEFENSE STATS
| NAME | TOI | PTS | +/- | SOG | HITS |
| OLE KRISTIAN TOLLEFSON | 24:54 | -1 | 1 | ||
| CHRIS LEE | 24:14 | +1 | 4 | ||
| MAGNUS NYGREN* | 22:27 | -1 | 3 | ||
| SANNY LINDSTROM* | 21:14 | -1 | 1 | ||
| ANTON GRUNDEL* | 21:05 | -1 | 3 | 3 | |
| OSCAR KLEFBOM* | 12:48 | +1 | 1 | 1 |
Klefbom was +1 along with Chris Lee and did get a shot on goal in his two periods. The club’s depth chart has changed little since last season (here) with only Tollefson and Lee new hires (players from last season have an asterisk).
However, the incumbents time on ice totals were much higher (aside from Lindstrom) in game one compared to a year ago; we should expect Klefbom to push toward 20 minutes a night as proof he is having a successful season.
He was listed as RD on the game sheet, that should be considered a positive (if he can play either side).

Cliff Lee? Baseball on your mind?
Saw the following in the HF Klefbom thread ( http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/showpost.php?p=54340575&postcount=344 ), from poster “SouthSwe” :
“Klefbom was ill but managed to play 12.48 in the 1st D pairing before leaving the game in the 2nd period as he felt worse. He was named Färjestad player of the game by almost all supporters on our forum and also by the local newspaper.
A very solid performance and it was to bad he had to quit the game.
He had 1 shot on goal, 1 hit and played +1.
Klefa is set to play tomorrows away game.”
speeds,
Well that’s a lot more positive news, and certainly sounds like the flu or something rather than a concussion or other injury. Hopefully we’ll see something closer to Cliff Lee – type minutes going forward.
I am trying to visulaize it, but in international hockey didn’t Brodin play the left side of the ice and Klefblom the right?
Lethargic eh? Put him on the CBA negotiations commitee.
I like Cliff Lee but the guy (aside from Klefbom) that has always interested me was Tollefson. Huge guy, can play a little. Wonder if the Oiler scouts will like him enough to have a look at him next season in the Sutton role.
Has Nation Radio been locked out too?
Tollefson could be an interesting option. The scouts will certainly get some viewings when they go to see Klefbom. He’s still just 28, and holds a few Norwegian NHL records for whatever that’s worth (most PIMs, most G, A and TP by a defenseman). Funny, with just 4G in 163 NHL games, he’s also tied with Espen Knutsen for the longest goal scoring streak – 2 GP.
PS – Carrie Tollefson is extremely ripped and fairly cute.
O.-K. Tollefsen is the Norwegian Igor Ulanov.

Where can I get Behind the Moves. Been to six book stores
In Edmonton.
Is Toni Rajala even in North America?
Do you think they might have Klefbom in the Sutton role? Not in terms of experience, but as a 6/7 D?
Hard to figure out this early, as EDM could potentially lose Smid, Whitney, and Sutton* to UFA.
*and arguably Peckham if he doesn’t play well – he’s scheduled be an RFA but if he has a poor year not impossible they non-qualify him.
You can only get it online. http://www.circanow.com/ProductDetail.aspx?ID=115
speeds: If they don’t sign Smid they have to trade him for something at the deadline. That signing is really important, obviously. After that, I think Smid-Petry, Schultz-Schultz, Peckham-Potter plus kids like Klefbom is much too thin.
so they’d need to sign Smid, a Ryan Whitney equivalent and then Tollefson to go with Smid-Petry and the unrelated Schultz brothers.
Then if the kids make the team, they’ll have earned it.
LT is STILL trying to trade Smid.
lol. No, I want Smid signed for a long time.
Damn, where is that “thumbs up” button when you need it
That’s the way I remember it at the WJC. Brodin played the left side, Klefbom the right. And then when killing penalties with another right shot D, Klefbom would move to the left side.
Lockout sucks, but we could catch a break with our two top defenseman prospects. It’s likely that Klefbom needs the extra year in Sweden and Schultz will be playing in the AHL until there’s a CBA resolution getting a needed early exposure to pro hockey – a luxury we probably wouldn’t have availble had the season started on time
I hope the AHL has a video subscription to watch games, since OKC with Nuge and Eberle could go a long way at helping the lockout blues.
AHL Live streams games online, but it’s kind of pricey.
Yeah, so do I. Glad you’re finally seeing the light on this guy
He is an absolute warrior and you gotta have a few of those.
Now that Hall & Eberle are done, Smid is the next priority in my view. Preferably for several years.
Well he earned it. Smid made a ton of mistakes and did all of his developing in the NHL but man he’s a fine young blue now.
I don’t recall seeing/remembering him play. Sounds like a player of interest if that assessment is close to true. Lots of chaos coupled with a healthy dose of awesomeness…
I have no idea where he is physically, but he’s been assigned to OKC, and hasn’t played in Finland this season (they’re a couple of games in like the SEL). He’s not listed on the Ilves roster either. According to Elite Prospects he was loaned to Ilves each of the last 2 yrs, that apparently hasn’t happened this year. Looks like he may well be helping out in OKC.
Even with all the young guys being sent down by other teams, OKC is really pretty stacked. They were already expected to be pretty solid again this year, and I can’t see many/any other AHL teams getting quite this much of a boost from young guys who should be in the NHL.
Rajala could be a decent AHL scorer too. Sounds like he may be too small to have much of a shot in Edmonton, but he’s been good in Finland, and could well be a good player in OKC too. I haven’t seen him listed at anything other than 163 lbs, but you’ve gotta think he’s grown at least a little bit in the last couple of years… He’s still just 21.
Yes, that man NEEDS to be re-signed.
Rajala! If he plays in Oklahoma I may have my underdog to cheer for (spot vacated by Kytnar).
also, great lyrics for a musical! OK-RAJALA where the goals from the wing!
