NEFTEKHIMIK VS. LEV 15.10.12
The KHL plays a lot on Monday. Unusual for NHL fans, but I like it: something to look forward to early in the week.
Yak’s team plays Lev today. The internet tells us Lev plays their home games in Prague and that this is their first KHL season. Lev features Zdeno Chara, Martin Skoula (the original “puck poise” from hfboards iirc), Jakub Voracek (before the injury), Marcel Hossa and Jiri Hudler.
Our man Yak is having a nice season so far:
- 6, 4-2-6 -1 18SOG 15:25TOI
Neftekhimik ranks in a 6th place tie in the east and this is their game in hand on the competition. Their goal totals (45-48) suggest a .500-ish club, whereas the Prague team they are facing is 35-35 and in about the same spot in the standings (although in the western division).
Among the biggest surprises for me about this fall is how easy the information flows from the KHL. Great website, easy access to information and lots and lots of online streaming of games and highlight packages. If a site archived the games so I could watch at night? Well that would be very good news.
I haven’t talked much about the lockout, mostly because it’s not really of interest to me. Lots of bloggers follow it closely, but in all honesty I’m fine with things as they are currently. Wake me up when you’ve got it fixed, that’s kind of my attitude. Absolutely geeking out on music btw.

God willing…

Sam Gagner has signed with Klagenfurt in the Austrian league…same team that Tyler Myers just signed with.
Can’t find a feed anywhere
Dirty one-timer from Yak.
Truth Movement,
Have you got a feed?
Keeps the streak alive…
Her LT what’s the latest on klefa?
Does Nail’s playing in the KHL this year affect his Calder eligibility when/if the NHL gets going again?

Currently 2-1 Neftekhimik, second intermission.
Bruce McCurdy,
Since there’s no more NHL, some bright spark needs to organize the KHL to make it palatable to the casual fan(me).
Lowetide this also means you btw.
Thanks Bruce!
Hoping the stream will pick up for the 3rd…
Which one’s Yak?
D’oh! Obviously, he wears no 10…
A few of the KHL player profile pictures look like mug shots. Alexander Radulov, for instance.
KHL games are kinda like B-sides to NHL games…
Then again, Pixies B-sides are often as good as the A-sides, so perhaps that’s a bad comparison.
Thanks for reminding me that that B-sides collection exists. My afternoon just got better because of it.
Omark has 16 pts in 12 games with Zug. Is that good?
7 SOG in just over 15 mins. This kid might just be alright.
The 2 out of 2 in FO is also an added bonus that might come in handy on this Edm team.

Inside A Secret NHL Focus Group: How A Top GOP Strategist Is Helping Hockey Owners Craft Their Lockout Propaganda
Omark 16pts
Yakupov 7 pts
RNH 0 pts
Eberle 0 pts
Paajarvi 0 pts
…
Gilbert Brule 5 pts (Swiss league)
Big whoop. Glen Metropolit has 17 points. All we’ve done is shown that the AHL is a tougher league than the Swiss league, offensively.
Hemmer update:
3 goals and 5 assists for 8 points in 9 games so far. Sounds like he has been playing well.
Point of clarificarion: PRV has one point.
If your going to be an ass Dalton… Please be an accurate ass.
Nice Pixies link LT. It’s a pleasant surprise when you stray from your clear classic rock roots.
Might want to have a look at the songwriter.
Good stuff Steve Smith… Always
Lurking in the shadows.
I should have known – Neil’s sort of popular around here.
I’ll still take the nod to the Pixies as meaningful.
Love that version. Pixies are all good imo. I do listen to a wide range of music, but admit to delving deeply into the Neil this year. No regrets. What an incredible talent. Saw him on Letterman a few weeks back, didn’t even talk about music! Just Ben and Lionel trains. Damn near made me cry.
Tough crowd! I wasn’t being an ass, or wasn’t trying to be one. Just kind of upset.
