The tandem of Martin Marincin-Justin Schultz is stealing the early headlines with effective even strength and shorthanded play. Actually, they’re also scoring most of the goals–5 of the team’s first 9 have gone to Schultz and Marincin–and Oiler fans are positively giddy over effective youth on the blue.
We can’t get ahead of ourselves–this is not in fact the NHL (a former major league spread across North America)–but the AHL of 12-13 vintage is a good damn league and these young men are passing the test so far with more than a little success.
I follow Eric Rodgers and the Barons on twitter for the latest info, among the things we know from those sources are that Josh Green is day-to-day but more like a week (courtesy coach Todd Nelson), that Roy gets the start tonight and the scratches are Green, Arcobello, Ringwald, House and Abney.
