OKC V MILWAUKEE 17.11.12
I’m not absolutely certain what we can say about Justin Schultz at this point that hasn’t been expressed already. It was obvious the Oilers had scored a terrific coup (or Schultz had done it for them) but the young man keeps piling up the points. I’m not really sure how good this guy is, but it does appear at this point that we should be prepared for something special. Can we expect a Justin Faulk-type impact. Man, that would be something!
Plenty of chatter here at the blog about Colten Teubert’s skating ability. When these things come up, I think it is fair to go back to their draft day scouting reports to re-set the conversation. Teubert hasn’t had any major leg injuries or lost a toe, so if he was a good skater on draft day that should remain true. Fair?
I think that scouting report is still representative of the player. Fair? Teubert’s spot in the NHL is blocked by men like Andy Sutton and Theo Peckham, but both of them may be short term hurdles. Suspect we’ll see more of Teubert the next time the NHL plays in anger.
Schultz? Lordy.

Greatest Dutch song of all time.
Ryan Murray dislocated his shoulder last night. Maybe the Oilers were really supposed to draft him.
gd,
and Columbus was supposed to get that Yakupov pick. Poor bastards. Good odds for the Blue Jackets on that 2014 pick now. The Oilers made that team look bad last year. True story!
Preliminary line combos tonight: 22-18-7, 19-16-10, 13-26-9, 34-29-21; On D 28-5, 27-33, 4-39.
Starters for #OKCBarons tonight. Up front Hartikainen, Lander, Paajärvi; On D Plante & Henry; In goal Danis.

Thanks for the link. Just tuned in. Is this Play-by-play guy editorializing a lil bit?
ha
As soon as I saw Schultz cradle that I had a hunch it was goin in.
Go Bairns!
Schultz ((Eberle, Nuge)
Yowza! Nuge (Hall, Eberle)
Nuge (Hall, Eberle)
The Shultz wrister again. When I saw most of his college goal highlights being innocent wristers I thought mehhh looks like average to poor goaltending to me. Well he’s still doing it in the 2nd best league on the planet. Obviously his vision and antiicipation from the point on the PP is a unique and special skill. Pronger was the last guy I remember being that good at placing shots from the point at medium velocity like that.
Oh there’s another – nice play by Hall.
Damn missed the first period.
This PbP guy is great! No homerism at all.
Hope House is okay
SK Oiler Fan,
I had that same thought watching his college highlights. Didn’t think there was a way for that type of shot to translate to the bigs. Evidently the long wrister is working in the AHL, hopefully it turns out he is just a genius and there is no way to stop it.
SK Oiler Fan,
He reminds me of watching the Oilers/Flames games on Sportsnet when the Flames PbP guys are doing the commentary. Comedy.
I sure hope that knockout turns up on the net somewhere, would love to see what actually happened. The way Danis was chirping Valentine I am thinking maybe a bit of a sucker. Just a hunch of course.
Schultz is good.
That House fight looks Deadmarsh bad. Man. Fuck.
Do people actually pay for this feed? The camera guy is obviously on the sauce and is apparently using one of those 1985, 20 lb cameras that held their own VHS tape.
I didn’t see this punch, but he was looking wobbly on the way out. Fighting is dumb, right?
ah fuck
Knowing Halls luck he probably took it right in the eye.
Do the two teams PBP guys sit right next to eachother at the game? Trying to tune one of them out. LALALALA… Hah.
When I first saw the Schultz wrister I really wondered what kind of stick he was using. It looks like there’s a lot of flex in it, whatever it is. Strange for a defenseman.
Sick play by Paajarvi!
Fedun (Paajarvi, Hartikainen)
Impressed with Paajarvi’s play so far in this one, it will be a sad day if the Oilers trade him for spare parts.
Didn’t realize Stortini is back playing with the Bulldogs. 31 PMs in a blowout loss to the Marlies. Must have lost his mind.
Marincin is so talented, if he can calm his game down, he’s a winner.
I fixed it for you.
This.
This 2.0
What have I missed?
Schultz: gp15: 8-13-21. +/- +6
Nuge: gp: 14: 6-10-16. +/- 0
Eberle: gp: 15: 6-12-18 +/- +3
Okay, it’s the 3rd best league in the world (2nd at the moment). But Lordy, Schultz is out producing both Nuge and Eberle.?
Someone page Jon Willis or mc79 to remind me about sample size.
Haven’t caught any okc action, does Schultz look the part or am I missing something?
Ryan: He has this thing. This wrist shot that kind of explodes. Weird. Other worldy.
In per words, who does Schultz play like?
Sorry *other not *per. Stupid ipad.
Ryan: Hmmm. I’ll say Faulk.
So it’s not the pronged muffin that somehow oddly used to find it’s way in the net?
Is it more like watching Lubo?
Schultz and Ebs all alone in 1st and 2nd in AHL scoring. Nice to see!
Lowetide,
Justin Faulk on the Canes? I don’t remember if I’ve even seen him play.
Hamilton (Byers) SH
Nuge with the spinorama!
Nugent-Hopkins (Hall, Eberle)
There was one sequence where the Nuge stole a puck, got it stripped, and then he stole it back again.
These wins will start piling up soon.
Yes. Agreed. We’re not even 20 games into the season. Nuge will inspire nightmares across Na, and Hall will have them on the ledge!
Darn missing the third, watching the fights.
In what is becoming a regular item, both Khaira and Laleggia with assists tonight.
Kahira’s numbers are especially exciting. Primary assist on the OT winner – now at 10-2-6-8, and playing C to boot. Only criticism might be just 12 shots in the 10 games. He’ll be coming out of school early if he can keep this up.
Laleggia’s looking great too, but his deficiencies are not of the offensive variety.
That Focus “Hocus Pocus” brought back the memories … one of them only a couple weeks old, when I tracked down that very same video on YouTube. Loved that tune. Nutso lead singer, Thijs Van Leer, was also a great flautist in his other musical life — I had his album “Introspection” and loved it as well.
As for Stortini going apeshit, I saw the vid on TSN this afternoon. The Bulldogs were losing 5-0 and some Toronto guy took a huge run at a Hamilton defender who had his head down, left his feet and really followed through. AHL refs being what they are — shitty — the obvious charge was missed but they threw the book at Zack for retaliating. TSN didn’t show the whole fight but they did show the part where buddy was flat on his back and Zorg was still throwing them. Not his usual style, but it was a real cheap hit and buddy had something coming to him for sure. Can’t remember his name, and he doesn’t show up in the penalty summary at all, it was 27 minutes to 0. Pisses me off when the instigator gets off scot free, but in a very real sense this one didn’t. Game was long over by then in any event.
Ales Hemsky leads the likes of Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Yakupov, Giroux, Briere, Coutoure, Ovechkin, Nash, Krejci, Tavares, and others in Euro rankings with 11 goals and 10 points in 21 games.
*10 assists
Hemsky is 8th, Yak is 13th
