Tomorrow, the Edmonton Oilers will recall more Barons, likely Hartikainen, Paajarvi, VandeVelde and Teubert. Already in Edmonton are the “big four” of Taylor Hall, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Jordan Eberle and Justin Schultz. For many Barons, the second half of the 12-13 season is vital.
I wanted to post the numbers after the call ups so we can split the season and see if the prospects who get left behind end up with something resembling progress in the season’s second half. First half RE from pre-season in brackets where it is applicable.

Pitlick, Hamilton and Lander will be in competition with Rajala, Cornet, Martindale and maybe Pelss for some of those skill minutes. Todd Nelson has some work to do.

If the Oilers don’t add some help on the blue to go with Marincin, Fedun, Teubert and Plante then they really don’t care about the Barons. I do like Deck, and am fascinated with Hotham’s even tonight–incredible. Send help!
Goal

Danis started slow, got hot in the middle and has been poor in January. Roy has been inconsistent for the entire season and certainly seems to have his arrows going in a bad direction (not as bad as Tyler Bunz–don’t look!).
Since the Oilers need some depth on D, what are the odds they go after Jim Vandermeer as a Sutton replacement?
if the oil call up Yann Danis, as i hope they will, this crew is extra screwed.

That’s a bit unfair. In the recent press scrum Yakupov was doing just fine in English, including the part when he punked out Terry Jones. It’s not easy to be witty in your non-native language, and if he is at that point, he’ll be just fine:

The kid strikes me as pretty bright and self-assured, which I realize is terrifying for the old school scribes.

My sister the Prez won’t be happy with me for saying so, but those two weren’t exactly comparables. It may well be that they both felt no pain, but Ulanov provided rather more depth than reliability.
