    Well done.

It’s noticeable that they are recalling some kids, maybe it’s to give them a bit of a boost, pad up their paycheque, check on their development, do some in depth analysis – but I really like the attention to the minors. Gives the kids a bit of incentive and reward. With the homestand coming, they can take a closer look at the toolkit.

    taylor vs tyler…

This kid looked like a potential NHL’er every pre-season and then something always seemed to happen to him and he would disappear. He certainly seems like he has no problem hitting everything that moves and he is actually fast enough to stay in the play.

Having Pitlick turn into a decent 4th line player would be very nice for the Oilers, I would much rather see him jump over the boards vs. Brown.

Pitlick? Didn’t we leave him for dead 6 months ago?

  5. jamang says:

i think if he can elevate his game just a bit and learn to go the right places offensively he will see third line time. but he is like pajjarvi in the way he likes to take wrist shots from the point. his physicality is exactly what the oilers need on the forecheck. they need players that make the other team check over their shoulder.

wonder why grebeshkov hasn’t been sent down and we don’t call up a real prospect?

ashley: Pitlick? Didn’t we leave him for dead 6 months ago?

    Yup
    And with a push:
    GP - 7
    G - 1
    A - 2
    PTS - 3

    So, nothing has changed

Zombie Pitlick – just in time for Hallow’s Eve.

He’s not being called up to replace Hall. There are players on the roster who can move up for that. Pitlick is up because he’s been a beast killing penalties, and is playing very aggressively in OKC.

We did, but he refuses to die.

If he can take a shift on the PK, forecheck at even and keep the puck on the right side of the ice, we might have our elusive 4th liner who can play. Heck, if he goes to the front of the net, that would set him apart from 90% of our current forwards.

Hell, there’s enough talent that they can pass it off his butt into the net. If he can take and give a pass and get to center or grab someone in the scrum, he’s gold.

RE: Friedman`s 30 thoughts. Interesting to see that Grigorenko could be in trade talks after a slow start to the season.

Anyone in these parts interested in a Hemsky for Grigorenko swap? A Grigorenko/Yakupov combination could be interesting.

Rooting for Tyler Zimmerman big time. Well, as much as a Brit can “root” for someone…

BTW, LT, your banter with The Comet during the trivia giveaway always reminds me of this old Gervais, Merchant, Pilkington XFM clip:

Something makes me think that Oiler fans everywhere are camped on the Oilers site, and hitting F5 with an ever increasing frequency. Just a hunch.

The day Darcy Regier makes that trade will be the day he loses his job. I couldn’t see that happening.

  16. Racki says:

After seeing him in preseason, I think this is a smart choice. The Oilers need someone who plays his type of game, especially if he can help his line score

  17. dawgtoy says:

    Sad trombone.

‘Taylor Hall will have company in Edm.Ryan Smyth is flying home.Smyth didn’t skate this morning and will be looked at by team’s medical staff.” As per Gene Principe

Droppin’ like a dart for Reinhart.

  18. TheOtherJohn says:

Believe someone banged Smytty quite hard in the offensive zone in, I believe, the Ottawa game. Thought at the time that it was not the type of hit a 37 year old should be taking

  19. Lucinius says:

I’m still waiting for an Oiler to go onto the LTIR due to the bubonic plague.

We get everything else, so I think it could be just a matter of time. The team really is paying for that 80′s team in spades.

  20. fifthcartel says:

They really need to get rid of that stagnant energy in the dressing room.

What type of game is that exactly? He’s the definition of useless. He has no track record of scoring, and if you can’t score you can’t play.

Here is a simple rule. Not every player that can score can play, but 100% of forwards who can’t score cannot play.

The best that can be hoped for is that Pitlick is a waste of space.

  22. denny33 says:

    Colonel Obvious,

    You know – I don’t agree with you a lot but…

Your views on Pitlick are bang on…..if you can’t score in the AHL – chances of you finding success scoring in the NHL seem low.

On a similar note – MPS played the hapless Jets on the weekend and even received some PP time….Jets are soft touch….alas….

Don’t need to tell anyone the results for MPS. Even his supporters – without looking – will intuitively know….

Apparently, he is going to get a bit of a push -supposed to play on a line with Tarasenko and Roy…

  23. Diesel says:

    Well,

In the last few weeks my lust for information (Gagner, Hall) has resulted in nothing but the eventual autopsy of my bullshit-o-rometer.

Once, a case of giving credence to an implausible scenario from a good source.
Once, a case of giving credence to a plausible scenario from an unreliable source.

If I consider the fact that I didn’t even know that I myself was on the block in Junior before I got moved, my resume for “Insider” is looking quite weak.

I’ll stick to making obscure Mike Grier references and pretending to be Oscar Klefbom. That’s my bread ‘n’ butter.

Um … didn’t the Jets *win* that game?

So because he isn’t a prolific scorer he is useless? hmm…. well id just like to say that he isn’t gonna be a on a scoring line. but he does have the ability to throw a big hit and be strong on the puck. he just doesn’t take quality shots from the right areas. but the oilers don’t fire it enough anyways. so with his heavy shot I say he has a better place on the team than jones. id run them together on a line because they are friends and have played with each other a lot before.

    It’s Klerfbom now.
