I wrote about this earlier at Oilers Nation and it’s been mentioned other places too. The Edmonton Oilers would be wise to hold on to Ales Hemsky, providing they can get him signed to a reasonable deal. Hemsky’s Olympic numbers from Extra Skater are here.
The argument against signing Hemsky at the beginning of the year revolved around Yakupov’s struggles. The young man is learning his lessons now and 83 is still here. Last time the idea of trading the Czech came up, Kevin Lowe (based on all we know) stepped up ahead of the GM and signed the man to a two-year deal.
Please may we have another two years? Lower terms. Sign the man. Hemsky’s no holler guy, but today’s performance could be heard all the way to Edmonton.
Sign the man.
