Congratulations LT
glad you’re doing well !

hags9k

There might be a small river on my cheek right now. Thanks for sharing LT, this is a wonderful start to the day.

Ranford.85

Good things happen to good people?
At least one thing is going right in the world. Enjoy the ride LT!
You deserve it.

You know Al, I’ve had a great day. Spent a large portion of it with my 6 year old mini me; repaired the neighbours fence with him, went on a bike ride with multiple stops including getting him a butterfly net and did a nice miso glazed black cod for dinner.

But this makes it for me. I’m so happy for you.

Jaxon

Not sure if NHLe gets much love anymore, or we just don’t have as much use for it since our prospect pool started dwindling and our seasons stretched into June, but I charted NHLe Goals for Oilers forward prospects from last season (Jarventie from 2 seasons ago). I think a few players might surprise most of us. Tomasek (NHLe G: 25) is an old prospect so he might not make improvements that most do when making the jump so I would temper expectations there. If Jarventie (NHLe G: 18) can get healthy, he might have a big year. And Quinn Hutson (NHLe G: 15) has more promise than I thought.

Happy for you LT!

So who’s her favorite all time Oiler? Is it Marc-Antoine Pouliot?

Reja

Excellent choice the best part is we have him for 8 more years.

Ranford.85

Thank God!
And if she had said Ference? Nikitan? Barker? Struddy?
Whew, dodged a bullet on that one.

McSorley33

This is great news….

Karen you found a Beauty!

Todd Macallan

Great to hear about all of the happiness in your life LT.

Also a relief to have my curiosity answered about why all the cat photos recently haha. As a fellow cat dad (hi Dalwhinnie) I wholeheartedly approve of your new additions!

Allan,

Congratulations! Thank you for sharing. Admittedly I’ve been worried about you, with everything that has gone in your life over the past couple of years. However, what I know to be true is that everyone will lose loved ones and face other significant challenges in their lives. I also know that good things come to good people.

I am very happy for you πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

J-Bo

Oh Lowetide. I’m over the moon for you! You give me hope. My marriage ended this past year not of my own accord. The grief and other difficulties have been tremendous. I’m peeking my head above water and to read this post today helps me stand a bit taller.

All the blessings and the best things for you and yours.

Cowboy

This s such an amazing post and great to hear this.

I am 42 and happily say I out kicked my coverage by a wide margin. The love of a good women can help a man move mountains.

I told a younger guy just last night “find a partner that breathes life into you and brings out your best; you can find an amazing partner but if they do not breath life into you then its not the right fit. And always judge this on the bad days because that’s where the tests are. If they still make you better and energize you hold on and fight like hell because that’s the dream I tell you”

There is nothing better than a great life partner and you deserve just that LT

Silver Streak

Al, your sharing of deeply personal times moves myself and others here from tears to laughter, to this….my heart is full for you….not sure if tears will come with the huge smile on my face……congratulations !

Victoria Oil

Karen is a lucky lady. And Ziggy is a lucky dog.

Tarkus

Good sir LT, I am congratulating you.

Does this mean you’re changing the blog title to Lovetide? And that your show will now be known as “The Lovedown With Lovetide”? And it’ll change from sports talk to a Venus Flytrap-esque show with wall-to-wall Barry White and Tom Jones (with Bobby Curtola* for CanCon)?

*Not sure who the Canadian analogue to White, Jones, etc. would be. I used to be with β€˜it’, but then they changed what β€˜it’ was. Now what I’m with isn’t β€˜it’ anymore and what’s β€˜it’ seems weird and scary.

It’s gotta be Gino Vannelli.

Of course…how could I not remember.

I suppose Andy Kim / Baron Longfellow is also worth considering.

Lewis Grant

Oh man…I heard “Wild Horses” a few weeks ago, for the first time since the ’80s. Not exactly Barry White, but brought back all sorts of memories all the same.

Sierra

Such a wonderful post. Congrats Mr. LT on your happiness ( and Ziggy’s new friends)!

Thank you.
I am happy for you, and Ziggy, and Karen. Blessings to you all.

Kert

I was really looking forward to when you explained the black cat pictures. I figured it would be an article about a new chapter of your life, a happy chapter.

This isn’t simply luck that you’ve found happiness again. You’ve earned it by being who you are.

Jethro Tull

I am so happy for you LT. Jeez, it’s smokey in here.

Wonder Llama

Fantastic, LT.

For all the joy that hockey, music, food & drink bring, there is nothing like the love of a good woman.

Rocknrolla

All you need is Love ❀️. We are all very happy for you!

Brantford Boy

These days I seem to think a lot
About the things that I forgot to do for you
And all the times I had the chance to

And I had a lover
But it’s so hard to risk another, these days
These days

Now, if I seem to be afraid
To live the life that I have made in song
Well, it’s just that I’ve been losin’ for so long

Well, I’ll keep on movin’, movin’ on
Things are bound to be improving these days
One of these days

LT, sounds like your days have arrived. Walk on my friend, walk on. Good sir, you deserve it. Just don’t forget to feed Clifford… anything he wants by the looks of it. Karen, you’ve found yourself a real mensch.

buck yoakam

congrats LT!…and such beautiful words from Jackson brown BB!…makes my day!

This is wonderful.

Thank you for being you LT. I’ve come of age on this blog, a decade of reading and commenting? More than a decade.

You’re a good man, and you put up with the children (us).

Scott Wheeler has his top 100 drafted prospects piece out soon – he says Howard is in the 50s and, while he considered SOR for the 90s, he didn’t make it.

For what it’s worth.

Reja

Where is Savoie?

OriginalPouzar

You’ll have to wait for the piece to come out.

Reja

I’ll say 28th as the AHL is no picnic for 20 year-old wingers. What’s your guess?

leadfarmer

I’d guess late 30s to mid 40s

OriginalPouzar

I think Wheeler has Savoie below Howard – Wheeler was a big fan of Savoie in his draft year (had him 10th) and spent a week with Michigan and knows Howard as person.

Reja

I do think Savoie will have chemistry with Leon and will be trustworthy. On the other hand Howard will be more dynamic and will instantly mesh with Connor. This could be one exciting regular season if Savoie and Howard both pop.

OriginalPouzar

I’m not positive Howard will be more dynamic than Savoie – different types of offensive players, for sure, but Savoie now has a proven track record of succeeding against men- and his PPG after his first 6 weeks or see, on an increasingly depleted lineup, was impressive.

Reja

Can he step in and be a Brock Boeser? The hardest thing to do in hockey is score . Either this cocky kid learns fast and rhymes with McDavid where he’ll instantly become the talk of the league or he’s a bust.

OriginalPouzar

Could he? I guess but I don’t expect near 30G and 60P – I think Boeser was a more substantial prospect coming out of college as I think he was doing what Howard just did but was a year younger.

I don’t agree that he’s an instant boom or bust player. From what I’ve heard/read, this is not a young man without work ethic and the desire and commitment to get better – from accounts, he came along ways in his “away from the puck” game at Michigan and I think he’ll continue to work at the pro level.

I also put some onus on Knob and his staff to teach and develop the young man’s overall game.

prefonmich

I am so genuinely happy to read of your second chance at love, LT. Happy for Karen, as well, to recognize and fall for such a good man.

GrafSupra

Happy for you, LT
You deserve all the love.

EtownDre

Congrats on all the new loves in your life, Mr. Tide!

Moonlight

So happy for you LT, this gave me a smile this morning. God bless you after all that you’ve been through. Have an awesome day.

Elgin R

Women always fall hardest for the kind, introspective types – good on you LT ( and good for Karen to recognize greatness when she sees It). πŸ‘

Death By Misadventure

Amazing. We’ve never met, but on a human to human level, I’m so happy for you LT.

Lewis Grant

Jeff Skinner signs 1X$3M in San Jose.

That’s really the best he could have done. $3M after a 29-point season is pretty good. And with the Sharks, he’ll get plenty of playing time and can get away with cheating for offence.

I still can’t believe he didn’t work out here – I really though he would explode. And I still wonder if he could have, if given more playing time. At the very least, I thought he acquitted himself well in a Stanley Cup elimination game.

Sail on, Kitchener Ranger.

OriginalPouzar

Amazing – happy for you Al.

Lewis Grant

Seconded. Wonderful news!
