I always somewhat annoyingly hear that name to the tune of Don Giovanni. I guess I better get used to it. He and Nuge gonna settle old scores in September?

leadfarmer

If we’re going whale hunting I’d save it for Kyle Connor next year

leadfarmer

Hopefully shoulder keeps getting stronger and gets back to his scoring ways. We still need to find another scoring winger. Probably wait for trade deadline.

Tell you one thing, I would much rather have 29 year old Mangiapane for $3.6M compared to 39 year old Perry for $3.5M

Farris

Perry is 40

The contracts given out yesterday to marginal players, old players and inconsistent players coming off good years were absolutely wild.

With all the wild signings (AAV and term – I mean look at Granlund and Brown), I figured Mangiapane would come in at like $5.5MM.

I’m enthused by this signing at the price point and term.

Arvidsson has been the higher scored through his career but there is more depth to Mangiapane’s game – he’s a much better 2-way player and is almost always on the right side of goal share and backed up by the expected numbers.

Can some one verify for me that when Bouchard’s last year on this new contract is about to expire Nurse’s NMC is also relaxed to a list of possible destination’s which would allow Bowman to trade him If so this is brilliant asset management by Stan

Gerta Rauss

per puckpedia

Nurse’s NMC transitions to a NTC in 27/28

That will be year 3 of Bouchard’s contract

Thanks I just read it becomes a 10 team list That gives Bowman some options if he needs the cap space

Me likey. Good contract. Good player.

Positive even strength player up and down the board: CF%, GF%, xGF% throughout his entire career.

Can play on the 2nd unit PP and PK (and maybe first unit PK at that).

Good for 15 goals.

I was a bit concerned when I read the ON post and they mentioned he had shoulder surgery in 2022-23 season. That said, the numbers you posted for the 2023-24 season are pretty heartening. Can likely still drive play against top 6 competition, but hopefully his goal scoring didn’t fall off because of the injury.

I like the fact that we’re adding veteran guys who are on the right side of 30.

A 2 LT post day 🙂 🙂 🙂

ON has a nice write up as well.
So he was a top 6 winger who got caught in the Eller triangle of offense?

DennyB

With Mangiapane the roster/cap looks like this:

RNH McD Hyman
Man Drai Savoie
Fred Hen Kap
Jan Philip Podz

Ek Bouch
Nurse Wal
Kulak Emb
Stech

Stu
Pic

21 man roster with $2.4M left on the cap.

Farris

Looking at that…you have to believe that one more move has to be waiting in the wings….right ?

TheGreatBigMac

That looks pretty good to me.

leadfarmer

Looks ugly. Gonna need to find a couple of players in season. We pretty much need every bet to pay out

DennyB

I would guess the big game hunt (Ehlers/Granlund) is over, if there ever was one, and that a major trade for say a Sorokin/Swayman is unlikely. To bring in that much salary $8+M a big contract would have to go out with the only available one being Ekholm. Obviously there is Nurse but I would give it a less than 1% chance he waives. Henrique, RNH, or Hyman contracts are not large enough and would leave a hole to fill without any cap space left for even a league min player. Don’t see Islanders or Boston retaining unless the return was an overpay.

If they ice a 22 man roster with Tomasek or Hutson as the extra the remaining space would be $1.2/$1.6M. Possible another league min depth signing happens but I suspect they’ll want to go into the season with a million or so in space and accrue for the deadline.

It seems like this was meant to be from the time LT circled this player as a target of interest when he was a teen.

This is an excellent signing.

Zelepukin

It’s nice to know there is at least someone out there that is willing to come play on a team that was 3 games away from back-to-back cups and on the wing for arguably the best centre in the world.

Bar_Qu

Good signing. Best we could have hoped for the team today.
Fans are going to love the player too.

An evening post from our host – we’re back in the blogspot days with a visit from ScarJo..!

I like the Mangione signing – the guy can skate and was always a burr in the Oilers saddle when he was with Calgary – it feels so good

Yup, he can be a genuine dink to play against. Never bad to add that to a team.

What is this madness! I have not had enough beers to see double, but I am seeing two LT blogs on July 25th. Better have a couple more beers to try and cure this double vision.

SoCaloil

Reviewing the UFA list earlier I was hoping we’d get him but I thought he’d command a cap hit higher then our allowance

Didn’t realise he had a down year on a good regular season team.

This is a good signing!!!
thrilled.

Rafa Nadal

Seems like nice signing. Hopefully he puts up 20 g and 25 a?

v4ance

Is it crazy to think Nurse for Kempe?

Diablo

Yes … even Holland is not that foolish.

v4ance

Holland gave Ceci FOUR years and $4.5M AAV. I think he’s plenty foolish

Brogan Rafferty's Uncle Steve

Mangi is a nice depth signing.

Decent contract. Only 29.

His numbers in Washington were a function of his linemates. He doesn’t not drive offense but definitely can score with decent linemates.

Holy smokes hold on to your hat folks! 🎒🔥👌
