2019-20 Game 48: Predators at Oilers

We’re past the halfway pole and the Edmonton Oilers remain valiantly in the playoff race. I remain at the ready with my heartbreak country songs (“the money ran out and the engine blew”) and Armageddon movie references (“When the Wind Blows”). I’m beginning to think we’re not going to need them.

At the same time, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. The four games before us, all at home before the end of January, offer another challenge. I think Pierre Lebrun’s usage of the word IF yesterday (“I believe Edmonton, if the Oilers stay in the race, have Pageau on their target list“) places the Oilers chances in perspective. That’s about right.

THE ATHLETIC!

The Athletic Edmonton features a fabulous cluster of stories (some linked below, some on the site). Great perspective from a ridiculous group of writers and analysts. Proud to be part of The Athletic, less than two coffees a month offer here.

OILERS AFTER 48

  • Oilers in 2015-16: 19-24-5, 43 points; goal differential -23
  • Oilers in 2016-17: 25-15-8, 58 points; goal differential +7
  • Oilers in 2017-18: 21-24-3, 45 points; goal differential -29
  • Oilers in 2018-19: 23-22-3, 49 points; goal differential -10
  • Oilers in 2019-20: 24-18-5, 53 points; goal differential -3

Edmonton is now losing touch with the 2016-17 team, but we expected that to happen sooner. A win tonight would have the Oilers on a 94-point trajectory and that’s the playoffs.

ON THE TENS

  • First 10 games: 7-2-1
  • Second 10 games: 5-4-1
  • Third 10 games: 5-4-1
  • Fourth 10 games: 3-6-1
  • Current 10 games: 4-2-1.

OILERS IN JANUARY

  • Oilers in January 2016: 2-2-2, six points; goal differential -2
  • Oilers in January 2017: 3-3-0, six points; goal differential -2
  • Oilers in January 2018: 2-4-0, four points; goal differential -11
  • Oilers in January 2019: 3-3-0, six points; goal differential -5
  • Oilers in January 2020: 3-1-1, seven points; goal differential +3

This remains the best January of the McDavid era, no matter what happens tonight. A fabulous road trip, one we’ll remember for many reasons, has us here. Edmonton needs the homestand to shine just as bright.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN JANUARY

  • On the road to: BUF, BOS, TOR, MTL, CAL (Expected 2-2-1) (Actual 3-1-1)
  • At home to: NAS, ARI, CAL, STL (Expected 1-2-1)
  • Overall expected result: 3-4-2, eight points in nine games
  • Current results: 3-1-1seven points in five games

Before the month began, I predicted just three points from the home stand. That’s kind of tragic, but the Oilers weren’t playing too well and there are good teams on the schedule before the end of the month.

OILERS FIVE PER 60 SCORING

The Oilers have a problem tonight, but it’s also an opportunity. I expect the team will keep the No. 2 line together, as that trio is gaining some real traction. McDavid-Neal also likely stays together, and one imagines Dave Tippett will ponder Archibald, Chiasson, Gagner and Nygard as possible options on McDavid’s other wing. I picked Nygard because of the speed, but also because of the success of the duo (in 52:37 five on five, it’s 6-2 goals, 51.9 Corsi).

LOWDOWN WITH LOWETIDE

At 10 this morning, a busy day ahead and we get things started, TSN1260. Jonathan Willis from The Athletic will join us and talk about the recent road trip and the home stand to come. Andrew Peard will talk Oil Kings and trade deadline results and your comments are welcome. 10-1260 text, @Lowetide on twitter. Talk soon!

That was a trip by Nurse?

I hate having PK d-men in the box.

Backhand lacrosse no less. Sweet… except it was against us

  4. drglen says:

the hass gagner chaisson line.. .. not so hot so far in the O zone. I don’t think we’ll see many minutes from them as the game wears on. we’ll see

Nurse kinda tripped into the trip….. but I don’t think one would dispute the call.

  5. OriginalPouzar says:

Haas with his first NHL PK time…..

  8. tapper says:

A toe pick. Therefore a guess. A potentially game-changing guess.

Not a scoring chance, not a safety issue, nowhere near the crease.

Curious what happens when an Oilers F goes down along the boards in the O zone.

  9. drglen says:

Larrson looking quite slow of foot to me tonight… will have to keep and eye on that.

    easy goal for the preds.

  10. OriginalPouzar says:

Poor communication by Nurse and the forward on the outlet once they got possession and the d-men weren’t able to change – leads to goal against.

  11. flyfish1168 says:

    Poor line change

  12. norm_klassen says:

Get the big line out play the shit out of them we got time off coming

  13. drglen says:

Oilers need to develop a bit of hate for the preds. Preds quietly into the lead here without any urgency in the game.

I would appreciate posters following a guideline that delivers only a portion of the piece. I think that’s fair to the writer. As the post has been up for several hours, we’ll let it be, but for future reference, three lines and a link is preferred.

Really did enjoy that paste from beyond the paywall, but I’m an Oil fan, so I’ve learned not to expect good things to come easy.

  15. OriginalPouzar says:

Whoa, Iowa scores 53 second in – screened shot from the half wall off the pad and in.

  16. BornInAGretzkyJersey says:

Watched the Great One do it in the 90s. My jaw nearly bruised from hitting the floor so hard.

  17. Crazy Pedestrian says:

Preds got the lead? Pretty sure that’s game right there. Preds just too good against the oilers.

  18. Ryan says:

    Nice jersey tug on Yamamoto.

  19. OriginalPouzar says:

Yamamoto draws a PP – shocker!

  20. drglen says:

I’m a bit worried here. If they get another goal and it’s 3-1… ..

right now, only the second line looks dangerous. Connors line is out of sync and the bottom six so far just carries the puck up ice and gives it away… esp. Haas line. The lack of offensive talent is starting to show tonight against a team that is checking a reasonalbly good zone defense.

Benson should get a call up imo. But let’s see what happens.

  21. OriginalPouzar says:

Bouchard with an end to end rush on the PP – to the circles and snaps home the tying goal.

  22. Lowetide says:

That power-play goal came after an insane sequence. Holy shit

  23. BornInAGretzkyJersey says:

Yamwise keeping consistent, drawing a PP/game. Handy skill to have.

  24. drglen says:

DRAISAITLS scores on the third bounce !!!!!

    Canada Drai..!

  26. OriginalPouzar says:

    Tie game.

    Great looking PP.

  27. BornInAGretzkyJersey says:

    Atta b’y, Drai!

  28. OriginalPouzar says:

Solid work by Chiasson in front – all 5 PP men helped on that PP goal.

    Big goal!

  29. Ryan says:

    OK – thanks.

Haas with his second PK shift of the year.

The Canucks never win in Winnipeg.

    It’s a thing.

  34. OriginalPouzar says:

    flyfish1168:
    Poor line change

Only because of the poor transition – Oilers had full possession – Nurse miscommunicated with the forward and didn’t get the puck out clean – forwards were changing as they were exhausted – D never got the change, also exhausted.

  35. Reja says:

Eberle scores his 6th goal tonight my oh my did he sign a sweet contract.

  36. Oz says:

Watching the game on Redditt’s Bilasport away feed and enjoying the Predator broadcast crew.

    After One:

    2-2 tie
    13-12 Edmonton shots
16-16 tie Corsi five on five

Very even period in my opinion, Oilers gave away the second goal on a vapor lock line change. Dave Tippett gave his angry Dad look.

    This.

    The Nashville crew is great.

  39. Reja says:

    Harpers Hair:

    It’s a thing.

Who gives a rats ass about your lame weak minded team.

  40. McSorley33 says:

It is hard to ignore the dramatic change Yamamoto has made.

We have the looks of a 2nd line.

Almost instant chemistry with RNH, Drai and Yamamoto

It is hard to ignore the dramatic changeYamamoto has made.

We have the looks of a 2nd line.

Almost instant chemistry with RNH, Drai and Yamamoto

What’s the change he’s made in his game? His game seem very similar, at least to me.

He’s just older, more developed, stronger, experience and, well, NHL ready.

  42. OriginalPouzar says:

I wish McDavid would get on one of those “shoot-first” mindsets that he gets in to for a few games a couple of times a year.

  43. norm_klassen says:

I just think McDavid needs a skill winger neal isnt cutting it for me.

  44. jp says:

    I don’t think I like Caleb Jones.

    He scares me.

  45. drglen says:

Larsson getting beat in those corners…,. he’s not winning those. leads to dangerous sequence and saves by smith.

  46. OriginalPouzar says:

Damn, Chiasson had Rinne not set there on that rebound from the block – needs to put that on net.

  47. flyfish1168 says:

2 nice rushes and no shots out of it

  48. drglen says:

Nurse with multiple turnovers tonight also.

  49. drglen says:

hmm I’m liking Jones more and more. Will be interesting to see how he’s deployed late in a close game. see what Tippet is thinking.

  50. OriginalPouzar says:

ARI took a 2-0 lead but the Sharks have cut the lead in half.

  51. norm_klassen says:

    Nurse with Lasson now

  52. norm_klassen says:

    One shift I guess lol

  53. OriginalPouzar says:

    OriginalPouzar:
I wish McDavid would get on one of those “shoot-first” mindsets that he gets in to for a few games a couple of times a year.

See, right there, Connor could have let that go from the slot but stickhandled in to danger and lost the puck.

  54. jp says:

Yeah I think he might be good.

But it’s like he tweeks my startle response way too often.

I can’t enjoy watching him. So far at least.

  55. BornInAGretzkyJersey says:

That’s not what he was saying.

He said the impact of Yamamoto has made a change to the look of the second line.

  56. norm_klassen says:

    Klefbom flat footed there

  57. drglen says:

lack of kassian is noticeable on an ineffective top line. I think Tip has to put TWO new players on this line line tonight. Like Nyggard and Hass. I don’t think the line is going to score tonight as is.

  58. OriginalPouzar says:

    drglen:
lack of kassian is noticeable on an ineffective top line.I think Tip has to put TWO new players on this line line tonight.Like Nyggard and Hass.I don’t think the line is going to score tonight as is.

It would behoove Connor to put pucks towards the net instead of trying to dangle and make more “full team plays” – current make up of the line would be better digging for the garbage rebounds – he’s got a good shot, tough for goalies to handle with control.

  59. drglen says:

looks like hes got MacD with Russel and Chaisson

  60. OriginalPouzar says:

McDavid and K. Russell with chemistry – maybe McDavid’s perfect winger is already on the team……

  61. norm_klassen says:

Yami is Tippets swiss army knife

  62. BornInAGretzkyJersey says:

    Hand pass my ass!

He dropped it down to his skates and passed with his stick.

  63. OriginalPouzar says:

Sharks tie it up in the 2nd (against ARI).

  64. OriginalPouzar says:
  65. Bank Shot says:

Mcdavid looking real good with the smurfs there. 🙂

  66. Lowetide says:

    Archibald scored.

  67. drglen says:

Oil needs a goal here… or PP. Oil have pulled ahead in possession and ‘danger’ but needs to convert.

  68. Gerta Rauss says:

    Archie buries it

  69. OriginalPouzar says:

That’s a nice play between McDavid and Archie – great play by McDavid but solid finish by Archie.

Kass’ AAV just went down by $250K.

  70. drglen says:

    GOAL… ARCHIBOLD.

    I stand corrected.

  71. jp says:

    Beauty Archibald!!

He’s on a bit of a streak, guess that’s how he scored 12 last year..

  72. BornInAGretzkyJersey says:

    Ohhhh Archie!

  73. OriginalPouzar says:

Forsberg trying to fill the highlight reel for the night….

  74. jp says:

There was no need for that. lol

  75. Gerta Rauss says:

Klefbom with a beauty full court pass on the tape to McD to get that puck into the offensive zone

  76. norm_klassen says:

Forsberg trade haunts Oilees more then it does Washington

  77. jp says:

Such a nice outlet by Draisaitl. McDavid misses that.

  78. Bank Shot says:

    Archibald….pure talent. Give the man $4 X 4.

That Bouchard goal was great too.

Funny how he went end to end without any great speed. He just kind of meandered around everyone.

  79. drglen says:

they kind of let him walk in there and he said.. Ok.. I’ll snap one home from the slot why not.

  80. OriginalPouzar says:

Hey, Martin Erat has 17 points in 18 games wearing an A in the Czech league last year and is almost at a PPG pace this year with 2 points in 3 games.

  81. norm_klassen says:

If Kass ends up with 20 Goals 40 points he worth 3.5 and not a penny more! Love Kass but come on😁
So 4*4 cause oiler inflation price

  82. drglen says:

Hey just checked the environment Canada website.

It’s -31 right now here in Edmonton. !! Still a good crowd.

    1

  83. norm_klassen says:

    OriginalPouzar,

That’s awesome I always thought he was great! Forsberg is sick wish oil made a trade like that. If Ales Henskey stayed healthy maybe he could have had a return like that! But alas not meant to be

  84. drglen says:

Good position and clear there by Nurse… good job forwards back checking.

Bear has also looked really solid tonight. Simplified his game a bit I think.

  85. BornInAGretzkyJersey says:

    LOL

  86. OriginalPouzar says:

Canucks pull their goalie with just under 5 min to go down 3-0…..

  87. BornInAGretzkyJersey says:

I like when Drai bull rushes guys like that.

  88. drglen says:

I’ve been watching Russel with Jones on D quite carefully tonight. What seems to be happening is actually on Russell and not Jones. K russel is in some battles but he loses those battles and that pulls Jones over to cover, leaving openings and these extended cycles ensue.

  89. OriginalPouzar says:

    Geezus Forsberg – fancy man.

  90. OriginalPouzar says:

    Bank Shot:
    Archibald….pure talent. Give the man $4 X 4.

That Bouchard goal was great too.

Funny how he went end to end without any great speed. He just kind of meandered around everyone.

Channeling his inner Boris Mironov – love that guy.

  91. drglen says:

I don’t mind the Forsberg crafty show. Why not?! It’s pro hockey. Of course, one of these days he’ll get bowled over cause he’s so busy being crafty. But that guy is a show in and of himself!

  92. Ryan says:

Was going to suggest the same lol.

  93. jp says:

Oilers not much good 6on5. Connor and Leon need a little more space.

  94. OriginalPouzar says:

VAN now down 4-0 so all the scores are turning up aces so far except ARI up 3-2 on SJS.

  95. OriginalPouzar says:

Was that Forsberg’s fancy move hand?

  96. drglen says:

Tipp not happy with Neels slashing penalty.

  97. jp says:

    Neal takes surprisingly few penalties.

    This isn’t a great one.

  98. drglen says:

Oil are letting preds hang around in this game. I hope it doesn’t haunt them.

  99. OriginalPouzar says:

Nice to see Kailer on the 4 on 4….

  100. drglen says:

Let’s see the slashs called on yamo, connor, and Nuge now.

  101. Bulging Twine says:

The NHL changed the coincidental penalty rule because the 80’s Oilers scored too many 4 on 4 goals, having them play 5 on 5 instead.
    yep, good times

  102. OriginalPouzar says:

    Great period!

    Fun!

  103. jp says:

Oilers owned that 4 on 4. Man

  104. BornInAGretzkyJersey says:

    jp,

Felt more like a make-up call than anything.

  105. Munny says:

I did not hate the first half of that period.

I’m not a huge fan of the second half of the period.

  106. Bulging Twine says:

Sather called it a form of socialism

  107. Bulging Twine says:

”I thought the change was a good one,” Black Hawk owner Bill Wirtz countered. ”The game goes the fastest when all skaters are on. Edmonton loves it because they lick their chops whenever it happens. But who wants to play them four-on-four? We saw enough of that.”

  108. jp says:

    BornInAGretzkyJersey:
    jp,

Felt more like a make-up call than anything.

Yeah, meant not at a great time.

  109. Munny says:

    A galvanizing moment.

    I agree.

  110. jp says:

    OriginalPouzar:
McDavid and K. Russell with chemistry – maybe McDavid’s perfect winger is already on the team……

Too bad this couldn’t actually be true. Russell anyway.

  111. drglen says:

geez… kinda uncomfortably close camara work on archibold there rogers TV… what’s up with that? That was weird.

  112. jp says:

    That’s what he does, no?

    Meanders, but it works.

  113. jp says:

    drglen:

Bear has also looked really solid tonight. Simplified his game a bit I think.

I’ve seen him lose quite a few battles. He sure contests every inch though.

  114. jp says:

OriginalPouzar: Channeling his inner Boris Mironov – love that guy.

    He was alright.

    Not so unlike Klefbom actually.

  115. who says:

    OriginalPouzar:
Poor communication by Nurse and the forward on the outlet once they got possession and the d-men weren’t able to change – leads to goal against.

McDavid losing his man just inside the blueline didn’t help.

  116. jp says:

    OriginalPouzar:
Nice to see Kailer on the 4 on 4….

Not the first time. Tippett has instantly (well, 2nd game on) used him in high leverage situations.

  117. docweb says:

Geez…I will be glad to finally get rid of all of these Christmas snacks and get back to Cheezies!!

  118. drglen says:

cant give up an early goal here.

  119. jp says:

This is such a great line.

  120. OriginalPouzar says:

Drai with a clear cut breakaway for the insurance goal but must misses the net – damn.

Now Gagner puts it over the next from a prime scoring area.

  121. drglen says:

oh dreisaitl missed on breakaway… think Rinne got a piece

    Gagner misses from slot.

    Cmon guys.

  122. drglen says:

Dear Connor. Please stop helping your teammates… just skate around a few guys and shoot yourself and score.

  123. drglen says:

Watch out for Josi here… Duchenne has also been quiet and is due. Don’t sleep guys we need an insurance goal here.

  124. jp says:

Chiasson was sooooo close on that one.

  125. drglen says:

I like the shot by chaisson on that play. Good decision. Good save.

  126. Munny says:

I’m glad Smith is making all these “fighting off” stops, but on the other hand they greatly worry me.

He looks like a goalie at the very edge of what he can do.

  127. drglen says:

Nashville on their heels here… Tipp needs to shorten bench.

  128. Munny says:

That was a Howie Meeker hip squeeze into the boards. Textbook.

  129. OriginalPouzar says:

So doesn’t seem like that shoot first mentality for Connor is going to start tonight…..

  130. drglen says:

    take the shot there connor.

  131. Suntory Hanzo says:

Seems like the shoot button on 97s controller is faulty.

  132. drglen says:

    I saw that too. Nice!

  133. OriginalPouzar says:

Chiasson has been watching Forsberg highlights….. too bad he doesn’t have Forsberg skill….

  134. drglen says:

nice play there. leon to bear, takes shot.. look for greasy rebound. more of that please.

  135. jp says:

    docweb:
Geez…I will be glad to finally get rid of all of these Christmas snacks and get back to Cheezies!!

I can’t take your love of Cheeses seriously if you still have Christmas snacks around. 🙂

  136. drglen says:

lol ya, he kinda was there. But hey he might actually have some lacrosse moves in practice.

  137. OriginalPouzar says:

    docweb:
Geez…I will be glad to finally get rid of all of these Christmas snacks and get back to Cheezies!!

3 ounces sweet potato base – some broccoli/cabbage slaw, kholarabi, 3rd of a cup of black beans, 150g butternut sqush with 3 ounces of chicken and 4.5 ounces of salmon on the side – great hockey game dinner/snack – so good – savor it!

  138. jp says:

That’s why everyone likes him, right?

  139. who says:

    OriginalPouzar:
That’s a nice play between McDavid and Archie – great play by McDavid but solid finish by Archie.

Kass’ AAV just went down by $250K.

Nice little pick by Neal at the blueline on the entry.

  140. drglen says:

we need 2 point regulation win here.

  141. Suntory Hanzo says:

Could Ya mo be there be our Pisani?

  142. OriginalPouzar says:

Ya, Kailer moved in to Duschene.

  143. jp says:

    Awwwwww.

    It was interference, but awww.

  144. drglen says:

they are calling that Pick on Yamo… that’s a cheap call.

    Look for even up call.

PK needs to come up big here.

  145. OriginalPouzar says:

Huge clear by K. Russell – the D had not got the change when the previous clear hit the linseman….

  146. Munny says:

    jp:
    Awwwwww.

    It was interference, but awww.

The “proper” call but ticky-tack in context.

  147. drglen says:

    big save

  148. jp says:

Really like Tippett’s line juggling, when he does it.

  149. drglen says:

is the Mac Drei line reunited?

  150. drglen says:

Ok there’s the make up interference call.

  151. OriginalPouzar says:

Stupid play by Grimaldi – Nygard is like a young Marchant with scoring chances.

  152. norm_klassen says:

Had to call that one eh refs

  153. Munny says:

well they couldn’t really let that one go after setting the precedent with the Admiral.

  154. jp says:

Too bad Nygard isn’t doing more. Like him but he’s not earning another contract.

Haas likely gets one if he can add PK to his resume. He deserves a shot to at least.

  155. drglen says:

have we seen Jones this period?

Nyggard lowest TIO on the team, which is surprising because he always seems to be in the play.

  156. Munny says:

drglen: have we seen Jones this period?

    Yes.

  157. OriginalPouzar says:

Oilere are awful at taking advantage of a stickless player, why?

  158. drglen says:

gotta say that was a lame powerplay.

  159. OriginalPouzar says:

    Time to lock this down!

  160. docweb says:

OriginalPouzar: 3 ounces sweet potato base – some broccoli/cabbage slaw, kholarabi, 3rd of a cup of black beans, 150g butternut sqush with 3 ounces of chicken and 4.5 ounces of salmon on the side – great hockey game dinner/snack – so good – savor it!

    Sounds good but….Dammit I’m I Doctor not a Lawyer!

  161. Munny says:

    Keep skating like this

  162. OriginalPouzar says:

Larsson has looked better as the game has gone on – very solid 3rd period.

  163. jp says:

This Oilers team isn’t far. (that is, they don’t need 2 wingers AND a 3C)

  164. drglen says:

Is is fAbro? good D on macdavid there.. that guys pretty good.

  165. Derek says:

    jp:
Too bad Nygard isn’t doing more. Like him but he’s not earning another contract.

Haas likely gets one if he can add PK to his resume. He deserves a shot to at least.

I’d keep them both, though I kind of have a thing for bottom 6ers that can skate. That way even if they’re not Bergeron defensively their wheels always give them a chance to get back on the right side of the puck.

  166. Munny says:

Even there where McDavid is travelling so fast that if it was me travelling that fast and I was that close to the end boards, likely those boards are going to the involved in some way in me coming to a complete stop…

And McDavid is faking which way he’s going to cut with the puck.

    Our ungodly McDeity…

  167. OriginalPouzar says:

Don’t think it was mentioned but that was a wonderful transition pass from Klef to Mcdavid on the Archie goal.

  168. drglen says:

Preds getting some shots here… D are joining the play looking for the EQ. We are living dangerously here.

Who does he play to win the game?

  169. OriginalPouzar says:

Come on Gaetan, get that puck deep!

  170. OriginalPouzar says:

Geezus, what a drive to the net by Connor but Rinne with a Smith-level of flamboyance.

  171. jp says:

    Really loving Bear and Yamamoto.

Holland consistently graduated guys to material roles with the Wings. Nice to see from some Oilers who worked up from the minors.

    Wonderful chance by McDavid.

  172. drglen says:

What a move and What a save… just like kevin called it. Great Great move. Big time major league save Rinne.

  173. Munny says:

    Woulda coulda shoulda

  174. OriginalPouzar says:

Oilers keep pressing for offence in the dying minutes while protecting the lead – keep playing down in the Predator zone….

  175. drglen says:

Ekblom big time clear for Nash.

  176. jp says:

    drglen:
have we seen Jones this period?

Tippett’s trying to work him in but he still doesn’t trust him at all.

Another amazing chance. And the PP.

  177. drglen says:

oh,, how could we miss. Leon.

  178. norm_klassen says:

This is the blueprint for playoffs?!!!!

  179. OriginalPouzar says:

I thought there was an empty net and then, all of a sudden, RInne was back in – leads to too many men – huge.

  180. Munny says:

Okay that’s the trhid time this period we didn’t score when we should’ve.

At least we get a PP out of it.

  181. drglen says:

looks like we will win this one. Too many men call on preds… we should… be able to win this.

  182. Yeti says:

drglen: We are living dangerously here.

In case you like obscure prog rock! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzwUuwTQS3E

  183. OriginalPouzar says:

As an aside, although he’s still not 100%, the real Ryan Nugent Hopkins, complete with offence, has been back for a good 3 weeks now..

No, he’s not a “1st overall pick offensive guy” but the real RNH is a substantial top 6 player along with plus special teams – huge to have him back.

  184. jp says:

    OriginalPouzar:
Larsson has looked better as the game has gone on – very solid 3rd period.

Quietly 2nd in TOI (ahead of Nurse and Bear).

  185. Munny says:

What are the refs doing? did the Preds try to put a ringer out there?

  186. OriginalPouzar says:

    jp:
This Oilers team isn’t far. (that is they don’t need 2 wingers AND a 3C)

    Jimmy????

  187. drglen says:

why yes, I do! Super cool. 54 time riffs with hammond organ? Lots of drum fills.

  188. norm_klassen says:

Empty net curse is official busted !!

  189. OriginalPouzar says:

Drai with his second of the night and third point.

After scoring 50 goals with ZERO empty netters, he’s got 3 this year, I think (maybe just two).

  190. jp says:

Did Draisaitl bank that? Or manage to roof it himself?

Edit: man he has a lethal shot.

  191. drglen says:

Leon pots the empty net on the hapless but game predators.

  192. Munny says:

    That was painful lol

But I’ll take the win. This has been a very good 5 game stretch by the Slick.

Oh and the ice looks better when its -400 outside.

  193. OriginalPouzar says:

That was a heck of an empty net snipe by Drai – ha!

  194. BornInAGretzkyJersey says:

That may have been the most difficult goal scored on an empty net. Ever.

  195. Nit64 says:

    HH yesterday:

“The Canadiens just did VCR a huge favour. They now have two chances to take over first place in the Pacific.”

That aged well. 3 pts back of Yotes.

  196. Bulging Twine says:

    Yuge

  197. drglen says:

    take the two points quietly.

Hey ride smith until smith hammered, and he will.

  198. jp says:

    Huge win tonight.

That was an impressive period and a half defending a one goal lead. The team looked mature almost.

Another nice game for Smith too.

  199. Munny says:

    BornInAGretzkyJersey:
That may have been the most difficult goal scored on an empty net.Ever.

I don’t know. Bobby Orr has an absolute killer.
